Creative vision
Eris is a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in Manawatū, drawing deep inspiration from Aotearoa’s landscapes and the quiet poetry of everyday life. Her work explores themes of memory, transience, wellbeing, and motherhood through oil painting, watercolour, drawing, mixed media, and photography.
Known for her lush landscapes and lifelike depictions of flora and fauna, Eris builds each piece from her own photographic references - infused with dreams, visions, and lived experience. Her practice is fluid and intuitive, guided by inspiration rather than confined to a single theme or style. At the heart of her work is a dedication to creative exploration.
Recently, Eris has embraced a playful approach she calls blind contour drawing - a joyful, liberating method that invites the hand to move without the eye’s correction. These expressive works challenge our need for control and perfection, offering whimsical, evocative images that spark curiosity and delight.
Eris creates limited edition prints, expressive portraits, and realistic landscapes. Her work is exhibited at Feilding Art Centre and held in private collections both locally and internationally.
